Beverly did dozens of extra things that were above the call of duty.
I had open heart surgery, and came over to Encompass from Celebration Hospital after more than 7 weeks of not moving, because I am also a paraplegic. Beverly Salvador treated me with dignity, listened, cared for me, and was truly a healing part of my journey.
I do not even feel like I am in my own body, because I can't move half my body, and the other half hurts, sometimes with maddening maximum pain. Along with uncontrollable spasms, I have no control over.
I feel without purpose, out of control, and asking why I am here. And even though I don't always show it, I have extreme anxiety and am fearful of almost everything. Beverly did dozens of extra things that were above the call of duty.
One example, after using a Catheter, my urine had blood in it. I was so scared I was dying, but Beverly reassured me multiple times that there were many reasons and to relax, and let them test it to find out.
It turned out to be nothing serious, and the blood cleared up on its own. That made me trust Beverly all the more. But she also made time to put compression leg pumps on my paralyzed legs. She was frequently popping in for a moment, even if I didn't call, but Beverly would check to make sure I was alright.
I was also extremely cautious about taking medicine, and she painstakingly explained each one, and unfortunately, I forgot each time and Beverly was patient to repeat and help me understand. She also texted the doctor about one of my concerns.
Beverly also helped me use the transfer board, which I was learning, from the bed to the wheelchair, while my legs were spasming, which was scary. She remained calm and I too then felt calm.
Beverly has such a gentle spirit that I love, but also Beverly's professionalism, effective and efficient work with me. All the time making me feel like a real person and not just a number.
Beverly must be recognized for her healing touch.
