Beverly was an absolute angel! Not only was she caring, understanding, and empathetic, but she was very knowledgeable. My stay at Inspira was completely unexpected and to be honest, very scary. New meds, pain, everything seemed to really get to me and made me very emotional. Beverly was quick to be reassuring and gentle during these times for me. As a medical assistant myself, I know how important patient care is and how much of a difference it can make in someone's day.
I read the backstory for the DAISY Award and it hits home for me as a Crohn's disease warrior and Beverly showed exemplary compassion and understanding for my disease that many just do not understand. She took the time and made me feel cared for. I had to make sure to do whatever I could for her to be recognized for her amazing care and service as not only a nurse but a true human being. I can only hope that more nurses like her continue to pursue their dreams as I once did.
