Beverly Howard received the DAISY Award for her undeniable persistence in successfully helping a Veteran to set up appointments at different VA Clinics. The Veteran had experienced many failed attempts in scheduling his appointments due to the phone system having outages. The Veteran stated, "Ms. Howard called me on her VA cell phone, made an appointment with Endocrinology and with the Jasper VA Clinic for a diet class. The phone number for the Jasper VA Clinic didn't work, but Ms. Howard was able to get through, and provided me with the right phone number." The Veteran was so appreciative of the tenacity exemplified by Ms. Howard that he concluded the nomination by stating, "Ms. Howard went above and beyond."
