Beverly Lewis regularly goes above and beyond to ensure that our patients receive the care that they deserve no matter what their economic resources are. Today, I called Beverly on a patient in my clinic. My patient was 1 week out from a trans-metatarsal amputation secondary to poorly controlled diabetes. Her wound was healing somewhat slowly. Upon questioning, my patient told me her insulin was >$400 and she had not taken any insulin in over a week. Within less than 1 hour, Beverly helped me get a 2-week supply of insulin and set my patient up to receive subsidized insulin through Mercy Med moving forward. Beverly epitomizes self-less compassion! I am honored and deeply grateful to have her on our patient care team.
