My brother P is a military man and proudly served our country, fighting for freedom in the Vietnam War. It was during this time that P was unknowingly introduced to Agent Orange. He now suffers from the many effects of this encounter. Just like his dedication to our country, P is also dedicated to the services provided by his community hospital - Cape Regional Medical Center. P was admitted to Cape Regional Medical Center. During his stay, there were a few hiccups that occurred which would probably make any family member or loved one concerned about the care being provided. It certainly raised some concerns for me.
My concerns and those of my family were quickly dashed by the arrival of Beverly Righter RN, P's nurse. She had a calm and reassuring presence that made us, and most importantly my brother, feel safe. She assured us that P was in good hands, and boy was she right. I believe that through Beverly's knowledge and commitment to her nursing practice she was able to detect a concern regarding P's blood pressure medications; after being addressed there was a remarkable change in his condition. Beverly's attention to detail ensured P's road to recovery. I am ever so grateful.
During his stay in the ICU, Beverly provided a personal touch to the care she provided. He would smile and laugh at her comments, especially at meal time when she injected his IV bag with his nutrition, "Here is a shot of some steak and potatoes". Seeing P smile also made me feel comfortable and less anxious and assured me that he was safe and receiving the best care possible.
It must be said that the Cape Regional nursing staff are some of the best! I was truly impressed with my many nursing introductions and I must say that Beverly was a real standout.
