This team of nurses jumped into action offering their support and expertise. They showed compassion and provided support to the patient and family in a difficult situation. They modeled respect, teamwork, and communication with multiple providers and other nursing staff involved in care. They mobilized resources necessary for the delivery of care. Original Story: The labor unit got a call for a delivery of an unknown gestation in the emergency room. Joan was called and asked if she was at home and if she could come in for a stat delivery in the emergency room. Joan made it minutes after the infant was born and began to help with the resuscitation of the infant, who was estimated to be around 23 weeks gestation. She helped with the successful intubation of the infant and bagged the infant on our way up to our level II nursery. She called Dr. Bossano, our neonatologist, and updated him on the infant's delivery and status. Joan went out of her way to help our team with a successful resuscitation and stayed with the infant until our NICU transfer team had the baby loaded in the ambulance. Joan kept our team organized and was key in keeping the infant stable for transfer.
