To the burn unit manager: In January, my brother in-law was severely burned by an oil radiant space heater. He was life flighted to your unit. From the moment F arrived until his death every single staff member on your team took compassionate, competent, and professional care of him and our family.

I am sorry it has taken so long to write this letter, but it has been a real struggle to grasp what happened. My sister was hysterical, to say the least, and your team handled her with the utmost respect, compassion, understanding, and care. The physician was so kind and explained the situation and the options available (which were very very few) and he did it without any pressure. He allowed my sister time to understand what was happening if that was possible. The Practitioners that were with him were the kindest people I have ever met. The nursing staff was absolutely astounding. The respiratory therapist was so very kind to my sister. The Chaplains were amazing.

My career as a nurse has spanned 40yrs. I have worked in many areas and with many different people. Your team - and that is just how you function - was the best I have ever seen or encountered. This type of care does not just happen, it is fine-tuned, expertly led and the right people are on your team.

There aren't enough words to fully convey my sincere and heartfelt thanks. This was one of the most tragic times in our family and most definitely for my sister - I hope you know how awesome your team is and how blessed we felt to be there in very capable and compassionate hands. I am / we are forever grateful for all of you. While the outcome was not what we had hoped it most definitely was not for lack of a fight on your part.

Thank you to each and every one of you. Thank you for being in the right place. Thank you for your professional and most competent and excellent care. I am sorry that I can't provide the names of all the wonderful people that touched our lives. I hope they know what their care meant to us.

To the team that cared for my husband, there are no words to express how grateful and thankful I am to y'all. You nurses treated my husband with loving care as if he were your dad, your grandpa, your loved one. Your kindness and respect and understanding support for me was such a blessing. I am sorry I can't remember your names, but I will NEVER forget your faces. You, I believe, are angels, you have to be for y'all to do what you do and see what you see day after day and you are still there every day. To the surgeons and social worker and chaplain. Thank you for your support, your truthfulness, your gentleness, and your patience in the darkest time of my life. Thank you for allowing me to make my own decisions with the utmost respect for those decisions. Y'all are BEYOND special. I do not know if anyone has ever told you this, but as God is my witness, what Truly Gave me peace in my heart was your glow. I'm not a person that does the "aura" thing but every one of you that was involved with my husband's care had an aura, a glow, surrounding you, I believe as a Christian that God showed me His presence, through you that way in my darkest time. I will always and forever carry your glow, kindness, respect, patience, and love in my heart.
