I have had the privilege of Bilal being my nurse preceptor twice while doing rotations in the dialysis unit at Texas Children's Hospital. Bilal is so engaged with the patients in the unit even if they are not assigned to him on that particular day. He has individual and genuine relationships with each parent and child which inevitably allows him to better care for the patients. As a result, the patients are inclined to want Bilal as their nurse every time they come to dialysis, which for some of these children is three times a week. The patients absolutely love Bilal and he goes above and beyond for them. While administering extraordinary care for his patients he was also able to thoroughly teach me about the dialysis process. Bilal is one of the best teachers I have had as a nursing student doing my clinical dialysis in the Texas Medical Center. Bilal and his dialysis teaching tutorial were the talk of our clinical group.
