I have had the privilege of observing this competent, compassionate, multi-talented individual in the field and with his co-workers.
Bill goes beyond to ensure his patients and families are comfortable.
Recently, I was going to meet Bill in the field, I could not find the patient's home and contacted Bill. Without missing a beat he stated, "It is easy to miss as the home looks uninhabitable from the road. I will stand at the end of the driveway,"
Believe me, he was not joking. Bill then went into his car to remove a few large containers of water. He looked at me and stated, "When I called to set up the appointment the caregiver mentioned they have been without water for a few days. So I said I would pick some up until we can notify the POA."
Bill proceeded into the home and I was able to observe the ease in which he made our patient feel. Non-judgmental, addressing the patient throughout the visit as if nothing was out of the ordinary, as he changed a foley catheter and dealt with a few messy wounds while maintaining infection control in a home that had no running water.
