Speed, stamina, durability, and agility: This is a short list of what BJ demonstrates as she flies from critical patient to critical patient, of which she has many during her shifts – sometimes all her rooms.
How do I describe a Wonder Woman—a superwoman? She is a woman with strength empowered by experience, not just forged by her work history but also by forces of nature, the nature of the world we live in.

BJ, as she likes to be called, comes to work dressed literally as Wonder Woman—short of the lasso. She truly embodies the qualities of the icon she has embraced. I looked up the abilities that have been attributed to Wonder Woman.

Speed, stamina, durability, and agility: This is a short list of what BJ demonstrates as she flies from critical patient to critical patient, of which she has many during her shifts – sometimes all her rooms. I think the universe knows her capabilities, and they send the sickest to her.

Energy absorption and projection: She has the ability to absorb negative energy from conflict and sadness in patients and project kindness and a sweet smile right back to them. This helps them become calm and face the reality of the moment – no lasso needed.

Regenerative healing factor: This is ultimately her power as a nurse, as a healer. After hours of super energy, at times superhero effort. Focused yet projecting ease, always smiling, always asking, “What do you need?” (for my patient) or pursuing me or ancillary staff for what her patient needs. She regenerates, heals her patients to whatever extent available and within our means.

So I ask that you reward and acknowledge this Wonder Woman, wonder mom, wonder friend who has chosen to share her powers with us, mere mortals.
