Bindhu is willing to jump in to help no matter what the situation.
Bindhu, a CPCU RN was nominated by a coworker who wrote:
Bindhu is a very strong advocate, not only for her patients but her team. She is one of our regular charge nurses and does well in this role. She steps up for her team and the units' patients. Bindhu is willing to jump in to help no matter what the situation. During one of my shifts, I had a patient who was visiting from Illinois. He and his wife had been here in Michigan far longer than they expected due to his elevated blood pressure.
They were very frustrated and were inquiring about being transferred to another hospital near their home. The attending did not find the patient stable enough to be transferred or discharged so they could get treatment in their home state. This situation was very difficult for me to navigate while taking care of 3 other patients. I made Bindhu aware of the situation and she spent several hours speaking to the patient and his wife. She made multiple phone calls to all of the consulting physicians and the attending to try and advocate for the wants of this patient. Ultimately it resulted in the patient requesting to leave AMA so his wife could drive them home. Bindhu educated them on the current plan of care and the risks of leaving. The patient and the wife took that information and made an educated decision to continue getting treatment here at Beaumont and not leave AMA. I am grateful that Bindhu was there and willing to help me out that day. Many other nurses would not jump in head first like that and do what she did for me and that patient.
