A patient had presented at the Weiner Center for Preoperative Evaluation with chest congestion and a cough. Rather than simply instructing her patient to see his primary care provider before surgery, Bindu Thomas took the extra step to call the primary care provider's office to schedule the appointment. His primary care provider was unavailable so Thomas referred him to urgent care with written instructions. Formerly homeless and having had less pleasant experiences with the healthcare system in the past, the patient expressed sincere gratitude for such humane treatment writing in his nomination, "Bindu treated me like an actual person, like and actual human and to that I have to say 'Wow' and 'Superb'."
