The Birmingham Black Nurses Association has been active in distributing food, administering COVID-19 tests and vaccines, and educating community members from traditionally underserved communities. They partnered with Birmingham City Council and the Birmingham Board of Education and taught Hands-Only CPR to over 3,000 students. They also provided more than 2,000 COVID vaccinations. They partnered with the Jefferson County Department of Health to host a series of live broadcasts and weekly radio shows that reached almost one million listeners. The efforts were recognized nationally and they were interviewed by CNN to share how they supported their community during a crisis. We know that none of this could have been accomplished without excellent leadership and teamwork. Team members of Birmingham BNA exemplify the National Black Nurses Association values and embody NBNA’s mission.

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
