Blair had been taking care of a patient with a new trach. After 118 days of being in the hospital, she took him outside for the first time. He said he had forgotten what it felt like to be outdoors. She also used her cell phone to allow the patient to FaceTime his girlfriend when she could not physically be present. More time passed, and the patient remained on the step-down unit. A Christmas tree was placed in his room and Blair brought tinsel and ornaments to decorate and help the patient get into the Christmas spirit. I think these are excellent examples of the kind of care she provides. I imagine that she has drastically impacted this patient throughout his stay. Because of Blair, her patient has felt the cool air, seen the sunshine, seen loved ones, and experienced the joy of Christmas from his hospital room.
