Blake Jones, MSN, RN, CCRN

Blake Jones truly brings empathy and compassion to his patients in the hospital. Recently, one of his patients, who had been in the hospital for a month, chose to discontinue active treatment so he could go home to hospice by his wife's side. The day he was supposed to be leaving was a nice, warm, and sunny day, and Blake had the opportunity to take his patient outside to enjoy a little sunshine. This compassionate choice became so much more than just a little excursion as hospice was not able to get him home that day, and, unfortunately, he passed away the following day in the hospital. I am sure his wife is so thankful for this moment, and I hope the patient was, too. Blake initiated a positive core memory in a rough time, going above and beyond, and should be appreciated for holding true to the meaning of being a wonderful nurse.
