Blakely brought the patient and father warm clothes and hats while they were in housing.
Blakely was notified about an international patient that needed lifesaving surgery but did not have the funds to get to Memphis for the surgery. She went through the necessary steps to get approval for a charity case. She worked with a local organization to get funding for airfare and meals. She spent many hours communicating with an international organization and Embassies of 2 Islands to get the patient and father's clearance to come to Memphis.
Once they arrived in Memphis, Blakely went to the family house on her day off to meet the patient and bring them snacks she purchased. She communicated with the father daily and made multiple trips to Memphis during the coldest week of the year. Being from a tropical island, the family was not prepared for snow and ice. Blakely brought the patient and father warm clothes and hats while they were in housing. The Dad mentioned he needed a new drill for his job back home. She worked with a local home depot to get the drill donated free of charge to the Father. Blakely went above and beyond to ensure the patient was able to get to Memphis for surgery and had everything they needed during their stay.
