October 2025 Honoree
Blessy Skaria, Registered General Nurse
My dad was a patient at St. James Hospital for a few months. His hospital journey began in Mullingar Hospital in March 2025. He was in Mullingar and was told he needed a triple bypass in St. James's Hospital. He ended up getting very sick and found out he had a tumour on his bowel. He needed emergency surgery and was transported to Saint James's Hospital for the bowel surgery. The doctors there really did save his life.
After the surgery, he got an infection in the staples. All the nurses at St James took great care of him, especially Blessy. She is an angel. She was so kind and gentle and put a smile on my Dad's face during those bad/sad times in the hospital. She always made sure he was comfortable and checked on him a lot. She is an outstanding person, and St. James Hospital is so lucky to have a wonderful lady like Blessy.
My Dad always tells everyone about the staff and the care he received, and Blessy is always the one he mentions. My Dad was sent back to Mullingar for a month to wait for his bypass. He eventually went back again to St. James for the bypass surgery. He is currently on chemotherapy, and recently, at his appointment, he actually met Blessy in the lobby of the hospital. She remembered him immediately, and it made his day. She is so warm, welcoming, and a true lady. Thank you to all of the lovely carers, nurses, doctors, and cleaners for all they do in the hospital. Blessy is truly a blessing.
