June 2026 Honoree
Blondell McClendon, RN
I had surgery at Southeast Health and spent the night in the CDU unit. Mrs. Blondell was my assigned nurse for the night shift. She checked on me and performed the initial protocols to assess my condition. She explained in detail each step that she was completing and explained the goals for my care during her shift - including those for the next morning leading to my discharge.
She noted these goals, as well as her name and the charge nurse’s name, on the dry erase board in the room. She made sure we had received our welcome packet and went over each item in the packet and answered all of our questions.
She completed these tasks with the most kind and caring personality, while displaying a sincere desire to help provide for me, her patient, and my wife. This level of service continued throughout the night, making sure my wife and I had everything needed to make our stay in the unit the best it could be. She also made sure that I completely understood the treatment I received and why I had received it. Mrs. Blondell is an exceptional nurse, an exceptionally caring person, and well deserving of this DAISY award.

I was admitted into the hospital at one of the hardest times of my life. Blondell did everything within her power to make me comfortable and feel at peace. We laughed. We cried. And we shared life experiences with each other. She loves her job, and she is passionate about helping people; something I thought the medical field had forgotten! She gives real hope!

I just can’t say enough about Ms. Blondell. She was so caring, and she made me feel very comfortable after my neck surgery. She explained things to me, took the time to talk to me, and treated me with the utmost care. I’m really going to miss her. Thank you, Blondell.
I can only hope I was as good a patient as you were a nurse.

Mrs. Blondell was thorough and very helpful! She consistently checked on us and quickly explained any medical procedures we had questions about. She also provided us with a facilities orientation. We found the hospital staff in the Clinical Decision Unit to all be quick to respond, and they always followed through with any requests!
