Next week Bonni Schumann, who has long been an inspiration to me both personally and professionally, will be representing the NH SANE community during a one-hour roundtable at Bridges requested by Senator Jean Shaheen and we are fortunate to have a nurse of this high caliber representing SNHMC. The Senator is currently sponsoring a federal bill related to sexual assault (S.2566 - sexual assault survivors' rights act) and Bonni's experience in the care of this population I have no doubt will be pivotal in the dialogue. She has been a member of the SNHMC SANE program since 2009 and has since gained nationally recognized IAFN SANE-A/P certifications. In 2014, she received the Jennifer Pierce-Weeks Award of Excellence at The Attorney General's Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect and the Governor's Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence. Since the program's inception in 2009, I have consistently found Bonni's dedication to her patients and colleagues nothing short of humbling and inspirational. Whether it be switching a call day, making a follow-up phone call for a victim in need of further support or speaking on the topics of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and human trafficking to groups in the community, she is a supportive team player and a resource of unparalleled value at SNHMC.
Her compassion, integrity and work ethic consistently result in her patients receiving the most healing experience possible and because of this she is, quite simply, in a class by herself.
