Bonnie was nominated by a co-worker for inspiring a patient to start participating in his plan of care. The nursing staff suspected the patient's unkempt appearance might be one of the reasons he was reluctant to leave his room, walk the halls, and visit the therapy gym. Bonnie, who often combines her background in cosmetology with her love for nursing, brought her clippers and gave him a complete makeover. Afterward, the patient seemed a bit more confident and showed interest in his plan of care. As a result, he was willing to work with the multidisciplinary team, participate with therapy, and take a step toward a better prognosis.
