We have a mutual patient, D, who Bonnie has taken care of in the infusion center. D has severe inflammatory bowel disease and anemia. Bonnie arrived by D's bedside to provide her comfort as she underwent a colonoscopy —holding her hand and providing encouraging words and even giving her a hug after all D went through that morning. Bonnie obviously went well above and beyond her duties as an oncology infusion nurse that day.
I am sure D will never forget that day, and nor will I. Bonnie is a true gem and really such a bright example of what every medical provider should be. It is clear that her patients come first and that she truly develops a special bond with them.
