She has carried me through the highest joys and the deepest sorrows, and in every moment, she believed in me and helped keep me afloat.
My first delivery was smooth and beautiful, and Bonnie made the experience so comforting—I couldn’t have asked for a better nurse. The following year, by the grace of God, Bonnie was with me again when I delivered my son stillborn at 37 weeks. She never left my side. She cried with me, held me up when I felt like I couldn’t stand, and treated my son with the same love and tenderness as if he were her own.
I will never forget the compassion on her face that day. For both of those first two births, the father of my children was not good to me and, instead of being a support, made the experience even more traumatic. Without Bonnie’s care, strength, and advocacy during those times, I honestly don’t know if I would be here today. She carried me through the darkest hours of my life and never let me feel alone.
This past June, I delivered my rainbow baby, and once again, Bonnie walked through my hospital door. To see her there was the biggest blessing. She has carried me through the highest joys and the deepest sorrows, and in every moment, she believed in me and helped keep me afloat. Bonnie has also been my fiercest advocate. She stood up for me when I didn’t have the voice to speak for myself, always ensuring my needs were heard and respected. I later learned that Bonnie has experienced her own deep loss, yet she never once made my pain about her. Instead, she poured her heart and soul into caring for my babies and me.
Bonnie embodies everything a nurse should be—compassionate, strong, selfless, and unwavering. She truly deserves to be recognized for the extraordinary care and love she gives to her patients and their families.
