Bonnie swung into action and caught the baby so it didn't hit the sidewalk!!
She was leaving late from work about 7:45pm and walking to the parking garage and came across a couple on the dark sidewalk. The woman was down on all fours and the man was leaning over her- Bonnie of course asked if they were OK and the man stated that his wife was feeling like the baby was coming as they were trying to get to the hospital.
The first question Bonnie asked was " How many weeks are you?" The woman stated 39 weeks and right after that the situation intensified and the dad was pulling down her pants and the head was out. Bonnie swung into action and caught the baby so it didn't hit the sidewalk!!
Meanwhile, it was pitch black and no one was in sight to get help- I'm not sure of the rest of the details as she called me as soon as she walked away- the paramedics came- I think someone had run up the hill to get help or call 911.
I think she is a true hero and she helped this family in such a great time of need. She was so worried about the baby and how cold it was outside- she stayed with them until help arrived- she also used her skills to rub the baby, get her crying and coughing out fluid- she is way too selfless to call any attention to this crazy experience that most of us will never experience and I know she absolutely contributed to the safe delivery of a baby on a dark, cold sidewalk.
