She listened. She acted and I do believe she saved my life.
I spent 10 days on the 4th floor recovering from COVID pneumonia in isolation. I was very sick. I was discharged home still isolating myself and I was having issues with feeling like I needed more oxygen. I felt like I was not getting enough. I returned to the ER 3 times and explained to the doctor and nurse how I felt each time. I couldn't get enough oxygen in. Each time I was told I did not qualify for home oxygen and "your oxygen levels are good". So I went home each time alone in isolation and still trying to get more oxygen in. I was very discouraged and depressed. I was alone and still very weak from COVID. On my 4th ER visit, I was visited by Bonnie Post from the care management department. This visit with Bonnie changed my life. I explained to Bonnie my oxygen "starvation". She talked to the doctor and arranged for a walk test during the walk my heart rate was high and my oxygen levels were low. Bonnie changed my life by going the extra mile and getting me home oxygen. I was able to sleep better and function better at home and she explained how to attach the oxygen to my CPAP machine. After 4 ER trips, I could finally relax, wear my oxygen, and feel safe and continue to recover from COVID. Bonnie intervened and got an oxygen concentrator delivered to my home and I went home with a portable oxygen tank too. Of all the people I encountered while hospitalized and during my 4 ER visits Bonnie Post was a bright shining light for me. She listened. She acted and I do believe she saved my life. She cared for me as a person and went above and beyond to provide what I needed to aid in my COVID recovery. I went home with my faith in healthcare and my faith in the goodness of people restored. Bonnie, thank you for what you did for that day and I will be forever grateful and thankful for you.
