Bonnie Wall has been diligent in finding solutions to my medical problem - a wound and fungus that prevented me from keeping a seal on my ostomy. She took pictures, researched new products, and reviewed various techniques until she found a way to allow healing to start. She advocated for me with my surgical team and explained how intense the wound was and how it impacted my ability to live with the ileostomy. She continues to care for me in the clinic explaining the irritations and how to manage care. She continues to research pouching systems that may give me more freedom to live a regular life. Her positive coaching through the pain and changes has been a blessing.

Bonnie is a "take charge," "Rosie the Riveter" kind of nurse and co-worker. She sees an issue and starts working on solutions with the attitude of "we can do it." Bonnie has always focused on the patient and family care and education. She uses the UW values and mission to provide education and to improve the experience here at UWMC for all the individuals she works with. Bonnie places patients first and looks at the education of staff as another way to spread knowledge to provide excellent care.
Just a few of the education studies and programs she has been a part of:
1) Measure on Monday Campaign
2) National Pressure Injury Awareness Day
3) Preventing Incontinence Associated Dermatitis in High-Risk Patients and Preventing Ileostomy Contact Dermatitis.
In addition, she has done extensive work on providing a safe working environment, expansive and organized list of ostomy products/supplies to provide well-rounded patient care, and improve the Ostomy RN Environment.
Bonnie is a pleasure to work with and is highly regarded by her patients, their families, and staff. Patients and families often comment about her excellent knowledge, her superior teaching skills, and how secure they feel having her as their Ostomy RN. My colleagues and I find her a wealth of knowledge to discuss difficult or puzzling patient care situations. She provides her clinical expertise in a straightforward, truthful, and unbiased, yet supportive and compassionate way.
Bonnie is an outstanding nurse, co-worker, and educator. It is a gift to be able to work with her, and it is truly my pleasure to recognize her for a few of the many attributes that make her a superior role model, excellent co-worker, and outstanding, compassionate nurse.
