As a charge nurse, I was very impressed with Boyoung, a student nurse. It was a particularly difficult day on the unit. We had a very difficult patient who had been requiring 2 to 3 staff members with her at all times to maintain her safety. She had been very difficult to redirect on the unit at times. The patient was having trouble falling asleep as she was very restless. Staff were beginning to feel exhausted in the situation. I watched Boyoung take it upon herself to go into the room with the staff members and she began to brush the patient's hair and sing to her to help relax her. Boyoung showed such compassion for the patient. As staff, we love to watch growing nursing students go above and beyond. This student has shown us that the future of nursing is in wonderful hands! Keep doing what you are doing!
