I am absolutely honored to recognize Brad Miller. As the Nurse Manager of the Intensive Care Unit, Brad does not just manage a unit; he inspires a culture of compassionate, excellence-driven care every single day.
A specific example of Brad’s leadership occurs during times when situations are challenging, especially during high-acuity or when the unit is short-staffed. Instead of managing from an office, Brad is present on the floor, supporting staff by assisting with complex patient needs or helping with admissions. He models calmness under pressure, which immediately helps lower the team’s stress level.
Brad is a truly passionate mentor. For the new-to-practice nurse, he fosters a safe learning environment by bridging the gap between academic knowledge and clinical practice. He encourages critical thinking and, in doing so, has strengthened his team's confidence.
