When patients come to the Emergency Department, it is usually not a particularly good day for them. Patients and their families are worried, concerned, and will likely have lots of questions. A moment of true compassion can help change all of that, and in one particular instance, Brandalyn not only showed compassion but embodied it.
A family member recognized Brandalyn and wrote, "She did everything in her power to create a caring and compassionate environment for those that she was taking care of. She put the comfort of her patients as her highest priority and never appeared to be phased by the environment in which she was working."
During a particularly busy day, the family member observed that Brandalyn took the time to address each and every concern and carefully explain in detail what was happening so that they would feel completely safe and cared for in her hands.
"Emergency room visits can be challenging and scary, and it was calming and amazing to experience a nurse who displayed the confidence and compassion that every nurse should. She, without a doubt, touches and saves hundreds of lives each year."
