May 2023 Honoree
Brandalyn Nicolo, RN
I was admitted to Arnot Ogden Medical Center for an outpatient surgical procedure. My nurse in the surgical prep area was Brandalyn. Not only did she display excellent nursing skills; such as searching for a vein in which to place my IV port (my veins have a great tendency to want to "roll") but Brandalyn worked patiently and with humor to isolate one and insert the port with the most minimum discomfort. She communicated with me and my wife most effectively as she went over all the necessary questions that were required before surgery.
During my time in the post-surgical area, I experienced pain in the upper left area of my pectoral and Dr. D was called in for a consult. He ordered a 24-hour heart monitor for me. Upon my return to surgical prep Brandalyn noted that the order was submitted but was told that all heart monitors were booked until the end of June. This did not deter her. She physically went to the area where the heart monitors are provided, worked with the personnel, received quick insurance approval, and through her efforts I obtained an appointment to procure a monitor by way of a cancellation appointment. This is indeed a true sign of the commitment and compassion she has for her career and her patients.

Thank you, Brandalyn, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
