Brandi treats everyone with dignity
Brandi Bangi has worked as a bedside nurse on 12-hour shifts, day or night, numerous times when patient census was overwhelming for the staff. While doing this, she maintained her duties as Manager and was constantly there for her staff, encouraging and uplifting them when they were emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausted. Brandi is compassionate to her staff and is always listening with an empathetic heart. She never turns away a phone call or a knock on her door. Brandi exemplifies love; loving another as she would want to be loved. The greatest practice of them all.
Brandi has her staff at heart. She is completely trusted to look out for her nurses, techs, secretaries, etc. to make sure they have what they need to provide the utmost care to each patient that walks through the doors. She has met with the executives of the hospital numerous times to petition for new equipment, raise her employees’ concerns, and ask for revisions to current practices to improve patient outcomes. This includes activating STEMI alerts more quickly so door- to-PCI time improves and revising the Sepsis Alert triage format to make it more user-friendly for the bedside nurse. Brandi treats everyone with dignity and uses appropriate communication that creates mutual respect between her and each employee. Brandi also meets with various departments to ensure mutual respect, trust, and beneficial communication with the Emergency Department to improve patient flow and outcomes.

Brandi has created many different forms in which we can be continuously educated on up-to-date practices in emergency medicine. She also shares her short-term and long-term visions for the ED at each staff huddle, and she invites the staff in open floor responses to add their goals and ideas. The staff has been motivated to provide above and beyond care because Brandi is their advocate. Brandi is on the floor at bedside talking with a patient or helping her nurses provide care at least one time when she comes to work. She considers her office as the whole department, always there when needed and always anticipating the needs of her staff.

Brandi is the epitome of an ER nurse both within the confines of the hospital and as a person. She sets an excellent example for both myself as a young ER nurse, and for all those looking to achieve a higher level of nursing and leadership. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with or shadow her would immediately understand the qualities I have laid out here as well as consider a similar career path of which she has taken. She not only leads by example but sets the example.
***
She has given me an entirely new perspective on nursing and emergency medicine from when I first became a nurse. One that has me coming in to work each shift looking forward to using my knowledge to help my patients in the best way possible. I have a positive attitude coming into work, and I leave knowing I made a difference in someone’s life. All thanks to the encouragement and motivation of Brandi and my coworkers.
***
Brandi is an exceptional ED nurse who is able to balance managerial duties with assisting ED nurses during times of high volume and stress to lead from the front. She is the nurse we all want on our side when things get particularly stressful and we can count on her to be there, even taking on a team of patients herself as needed.
***
She provides herself as a resource for guidance, training, interpersonal conflict resolution, and professional advice and guidance to all of her nurses. She can be counted on for impartial judgment and a fair resolution for all parties.
***
Brandi is always ready to help train individuals in any area where they lack confidence or give a boost to spirits with a pep talk. After intense events, she is ready to de-brief with anyone who requests it and supports us emotionally. Brandi has given her private cell phone number to us so she is easy to reach on evenings and weekends if her staff needs support.
***
In addition to supporting her nursing staff in the department, she advocates for our needs and requests throughout the hospital to ensure that we have the best resources available to us. She actively recruits techs that are nursing with ED nursing as a goal to foster their education and development into the best ED nurses they can be and strives to retain quality nurses through development and conflict resolution.

While my nursing career has been short so far, I have worked under many managers in other fields throughout my life. Brandi is by far the best manager I have had the pleasure of working with. She is a shining example of what management should be not only at this facility but across the nursing profession.
