I am writing to nominate Brandi Donaldson for the DAISY Award for her exceptional care and unwavering dedication to my stepdad during his 12-day stay in the ICU. Brandi was an absolute blessing to our family, providing outstanding medical care and emotional support, guidance, and comfort to us during one of the most challenging times in our lives. Over the course of 6 nights out of the 12 days my family member was in the ICU, Brandi was a constant, calming presence in his room. She took the time to set nightly goals with us in a way that made us feel informed and empowered. She explained why each goal mattered and how it would help his recovery, which gave us a sense of confidence that he was in capable hands.
Beyond her medical expertise, Brandi helped us advocate for my family member when we were uncertain of what to ask or how to navigate his care. She constantly reminded us to focus on “what he would want,” helping us make decisions with clarity and respect for his wishes. This was a gift during a time when emotions ran high and decisions felt overwhelming. But what truly set Brandi apart was her compassionate care, not only for my stepdad but also for our entire family. She educated us, uplifted our spirits, and provided comfort during long, sleepless nights. Her warmth and empathy went beyond the call of duty, and she was always available to listen, explain, and offer support when we needed it most. We will forever be grateful for the incredible impact Brandi had on my stepdad’s care and our family’s experience during his time in the ICU. She embodies the essence of the DAISY Award: delivering extraordinary care with compassion, dedication, and grace.
