Brandi Garcia’s dedication, compassion, and caring were clearly demonstrated in assisting her patient with transferring to the same hospital as her husband. An elderly patient from the east valley was brought to Maricopa Medical Center as a trauma patient following a fall. The patient was cleared of the fall but had other medical concerns. The family was very distraught as the patient’s husband was in another hospital in the east valley. They were trying to be at two hospitals at the same time. It was a far drive for the family to continually keep coming downtown to Maricopa Medical Center. The family requested for the patient to be transferred to the same hospital as her husband in the east valley. This involved numerous phone calls, plus coordinating with social work and physicians and keeping them updated. Brandi worked on this endeavor all afternoon, attempting to make this happen for the family. Towards the end of the shift, Brandi was able to accomplish this task! They were truly grateful for all that she had done. Without her persistence and help, this transfer would not have happened that day. She went over and above to help this family during their perceived crisis and time of need.
