Last year I lost a family member suddenly at work; Brandi gave me a safe space to feel all of the emotions I had and a listening ear.
Brandi is an extraordinary role model for behavior to all staff in all of her departments. She leads with kindness, compassion, and a level head. I have witnessed very tense situations including patients or staff that she has handled with nothing less than amazing grace. She shows how to conduct yourself to the utmost level of professionalism, while still being one of the most compassionate managers I’ve ever had the pleasure to work under.

She has created an environment that fosters care and compassion by just being herself. I have witnessed her compassion for others and experienced it myself. Last year I lost a family member suddenly at work; Brandi gave me a safe space to feel all of the emotions I had and a listening ear. She truly honestly let me cry and was so sympathetic and empathetic; I have never had a leader be so invested in her staff’s wellbeing or experienced it myself until having Brandi as my manager.

She has helped to create and uphold a work environment where being a person of trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development, and ethical behavior are modeled and supported. She has done this by first and foremost modeling all of these attributes. Brandi shows respect for all staff and patients without question. She is a person of ethics, and trust. She motivates all of her teams to hold them self to a higher standard and to always be kind to one another.

Brandi motivates all of her staff enthusiastically with a shared vision to achieve better outcomes for themselves and their patients. She is a supporter of, “We are here for our patients,” and ultimately, “what is best for our patients.” Brandi very much discusses policy changes, ideas of how to improve patient care, or what can help staff almost daily at a daily huddle. One of her priorities has been listening to her staff and considering their opinions. She has also championed changes for the patients to improve their care and time in Day Surgery.

Brandi has been a mentor to staff since the day she took on a role in our department. She has always had an open door for anyone to come to her with anything. She does her best to help any staff with any issues, or to help them figure out problems they may be having. She does this in a way that leaves you feeling respected and heard.

She has always been available and responsive to the needs of everyone on the unit, while still encouraging others to use critical thinking and trying to solve issues or concerns on their own. She has done a fabulous job of helping her staff gain the confidence to use discernment to solve problems and the tools to help them find answers to their question on their own.
Brandi promotes and enhances the image of nursing in all areas. She is an amazing example of what I believe a Nurse should be, and one of the best nurses I know. She has motivated others, and myself to continue to better myself and strive to be the best I can be. She is everything Aurora stands for-excellence.
