Brandie has always volunteered to help anyone in need, whether it be her coworkers, a visitor, or most importantly, a patient. When asked to do something "extra", she never says no. Just this past week, CVICU was expecting a "same day" patient from the Cath Lab. This was due to the outcome of his Cath, as he needed emergent open-heart surgery. Brandi offered to set up his room for his recovery. When Brandie found out the patient's wife was very upset and had no idea what was going on, Brandie came to her. She took her to the Chapel, where she sat down with her, explained exactly what was going on, what would happen during the open-heart surgery, and what to expect when her husband was recovering in CVICU. After making sure the wife understood everything, they prayed together. The patient did not come to CVICU until shift change at 7 pm, but Brandie offered to stay and help the night nurse get the patient settled in and also have the wife see him. This was all done while Brandie was still taking care of her own two patients. The next day, Brandie was given this patient to care for. Brandie made sure the wife knew about the Thanksgiving dinner she was able to have. The wife cried knowing Brandie really cared about her as well as her husband. She kept saying she couldn't believe how nice this hospital and everyone in it was. Nice to hear this, and it all started with Brandie. Brandie has this work ethic every day that she works, always willing to help and always with a smile on her face.
