Brandon was called into a 1:1 who had uncontrolled pain, confusion, and was at risk of harming herself due to trying to climb out of bed. He took it upon himself to act as her aide and also performed RN duties as well, going above the call of duty.
When checking on him to make sure everything was okay, Brandon was found holding the patient up so she could stand. When asked what he was doing, he said, "She says it makes her feet feel better when she's standing."
Now, this patient was here for uncontrolled pain and needed help with standing, so most of the weight he had to support himself. When asked how long he had been doing this, he said, "around 40 minutes", which would be exhausting.
This is just an example of Brandon putting his patients above himself. He is the most compassionate, selfless person I have ever met. He is the type of nurse to do anything for his patients to better their care or their stay. I have worked with him for over a year, and there's not one day that goes by that he is not a true DAISY Nurse.
I wish that more nurses had the opportunity to work with him and be reminded of the compassion that so many nurses have lost throughout the years.
