When Brandy and I were leaving the hospital in the early morning hours around 1 or 2 am we noticed a truck had pulled up in the ER entrance and two teenagers were standing with a wheelchair. They were attempting to help someone out of the truck but seemed to be having some trouble. Brandy and I asked if they needed any assistance. Turns out there was a young teenager who had a large cut on his leg. The boy did not want to go to the ER due to fear of pain regarding stitches. The boy was trying to convince his family that stitches were not needed. Brandy, with her years of emergency room experience quickly assessed the wound and could tell that it really needed stitches. She assured the boy that the stitches wouldn't hurt and they would numb the area very well. Brandy then assisted the boy into the wheelchair. She walked him into the emergency room and asked him questions to ease his fears and make him feel more relaxed. Brandy went above the call of duty and showed not only the patient but the patient's friends and mother of the caring environment that we strive for here at Sycamore.

Thank you, Brandy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
