I had Brandy two nights in a row and every night she was beyond exceptional. She immediately established a relationship with my family and me. When I went for an endoscopy she was there to help my mom and husband understand everything that had happened.
The most important issue for me was getting to eat again. I came in unable to eat anything, and Brandy's goal was to make me feel as best she could despite my restricted diet. She came in constantly to remind me to order for my clear liquid diet. After my endoscopy I was doing well, it was 5:50 pm, and I was still on a clear liquid diet. She chased down the doctor to try to bump me to a soft diet before the cafeteria closed at 7:00 pm, and she did it!
Brandy celebrated how much better I was feeling like she was a part of our family, and it meant a lot to us. All of her actions were representative of the criteria listed, but beyond that, she made my entire family and I feel like the best we could despite the circumstances. Brandy went beyond being a nurse, for the little time she was with us, she was family.
