She is like a dog with a bone when it comes to any Employee Safety issue - she will not let it go until it is resolved! This comes from a place of caring and passion to create a safe environment for our team members.
Recently, safety concerns were brought forward regarding BioVigil. Because of Brandy's expertise, the level of trust that she has developed in the organization with providers, leaders, and team members, Brandy was designated as the key contact for individuals who wanted to learn more or express their concerns. Brandy went above and beyond to educate herself and other team members regarding the safety of BioVigil. She was appointed to the task force that evaluated the safety concerns. She spoke to countless team members to share what she learned in a caring and compassionate way that demonstrated trust and empathy. She has become a "go-to" leader who can be trusted to share difficult messages confidently and competently.
Brandy received acknowledgement and recognition from many team members and leaders regarding her role in this very important issue. Brandy consistently and intentionally looks for ways to continue to grow and expand the services offered by Employee Health in order to best serve our patients (our employees!) Expanded services result in professional development and added responsibility for all Employee Health team members. One recent example includes obtaining smoking cessation certification in order to provide coaching services to impacted team members. She has many ideas for expansion that our on our roadmap that we are looking to implement next year and into the future.
Brandy is always motivated by doing what is right for our employees. She is passionate about Employee Safety and has demonstrated many behaviors that would be considered above and beyond. One recent example involves a team member who fell on icy steps, which resulted in some significant injuries. Brandy rallied the right team members to assist in the moment, and even came to work on her own time after work to clean and clear the steps to ensure the steps were safe and clean. She also was relentless about completing a root cause analysis to dissect what went wrong and to ensure it would not happen again. She is like a dog with a bone when it comes to any Employee Safety issue - she will not let it go until it is resolved! This comes from a place of caring and passion to create a safe environment for our team members.
Brandy does an excellent job of painting the mission and the vision for her team and others. Employee Health is the one department in the organization that does not provide pediatric care so, in theory, the connection to our mission may feel more indirect to her team, but this definitely not the case. Each team member on her team can articulate how they fuel our mission. She has developed a team that is committed to caring for our caregivers. The Employee Health team is rooted in metrics and results. They maintain a monthly dashboard and know and understand how they impact time to fill, our TRIR metrics, and our DART rate. I am confident if you asked anyone in the organization their perception of Brandy Taylor or the Employee Health team, they would have only positive things to say. Brandy has worked intentionally to build a strong team that positively represents the organization. The team is committed to service, outcomes, and safety. Interestingly, over a year ago, when an Employee Health position came open in the organization, we had a hard time filling the role. With our most recent opening, we had multiple internal candidates who were interested and excited about joining the team. This is a testament to the team and culture Brandy has worked so hard to build.
Brandy is well-known in the Employee Health community. She has built relationships with all of our sister hospitals throughout the community to share best practices and ideas. Brandy is one in a million! As a nursing leader, she consistently demonstrates our core values and our leadership competencies.
