Brandy has always shown true care and compassion for her patients. Today I was able to witness her in action! We have a patient on the unit who has been in the hospital for 40+ days. He has gone from the floor to ICU, from ICU to the floor several times. He was talking with Brandy and telling her how he was not sleeping and every time he would sleep he would have nightmares that he was going to die. She knew he wasn’t acting like himself and seemed really down. She asked if there was a way that we could take him outside, to let him feel the sun on his skin and breathe the fresh air. She coordinated with O.T. to do his care outside. When he came back, his spirits were lifted and he was smiling again. He seemed more motivated to participate in his care and kept telling us how nice it was and how much he appreciated it. She suggested this be the way he works with O.T. daily and they agreed. This is one of the many ways she cares for her patients.
