Brandy Thomas noticed her patient's COPD exacerbation was related to an inability to afford an inhaler. The patient was scheduled for discharge. Prior to discharge, Brandy went over and beyond spending 1 1/2 hours assuring her patient would be able to obtain the inhaler she found out the inhaler was $400 at the pharmacy. Brandy called Blue Cross and when there was no response, she called Express Scripts and found out inhalers are $192 out of pocket. Brandy realized with the out of pocket expense, her patient would still not be able to get the inhaler. Brandy called Dr. K's office to inquire about samples and financial resources. She was able to send the patient home with 2 inhaler samples.

Brandy went above and beyond her duties to assure that I had the medication that I needed before leaving the hospital. My meds were too expensive and my insurance would not pay for it. She spent a big part of her day on the phone with doctors and insurance to get me what I needed. I appreciate and love the time she took to assure my wellbeing and health was taken care of.
