After the care I witnessed Branson give to her, I felt at ease to get a little bit of sleep for myself.
“Our mother, C, was transferred to HMC and she was originally taken to the second floor. Unfortunately, her Co2 levels were not improving, and they had to move her to MICU. Like anyone, we were scared of the unknown, for my mother.
Upon arriving, in MICU, we were greeted by Branson and his twin brother, D, and what an absolutely perfect match for our mother and our family. Branson was my mom's main nurse and the care he took with her, actually, brought me to tears. I watched him engage with her as if she was going to answer him back. He cleaned her eyes and gave her a sponge bath with such a gentle touch. In such an undignified display, that these patients can go through, he respected her dignity and made her "display" seem more dignified. I really enjoyed watching his care and attention towards her.
After the care I witnessed him give to her, I felt at ease to get a little bit of sleep for myself. I am not under the illusion of thinking that she was the only one he was so caring with, but, he made me feel like she was his main priority; while in the room with her. He cared for our mom in exactly the same way we would care for her, and he went above and beyond to not only connect with my mother but with me; as well. What a blessing and treasure you have in him, and I am beyond thankful I got the chance to witness this level of compassion that is grossly missing in our world today.
Note: This is Branson's 2nd DAISY Award!
