He fully explained exactly what was going to happen every step of the way.
Recently, I spent a long day in the Emergency Department attempting to figure out why I had been ill for the past 5 days. I was very nervous as previously. Anytime I was sick, it would only last a couple of days. I was very dehydrated, mentally and physically exhausted, and had lost a significant amount of weight. I was introduced to Brant, and we walked slowly to the room where I would be for the next few hours.
As soon as I became comfortable, he began asking questions about what brought me in today. I told him my story, somewhat embarrassing at times due to the nature of my symptoms. Brant was kind and understanding and answered all of my questions throughout the day. He fully explained exactly what was going to happen every step of the way. I was very grateful for his patience and understanding, including my emotional state. He acknowledged me when I addressed him with a warmth that showed he truly cared for my well-being. I appreciated this very much. He also showed compassion to my mother, who had been concerned as she witnessed my decline over the past few days.
He was comical, reassuring, and descriptive to a 72-year-old mom who was very worried. While I was in the ED for a long time, I feel that they did everything they could to make me feel important, valued, and cared for. Brant was knowledgeable and kind. That made all the difference for what could have been an entirely different experience. Brant treated my mother and I with the upmost respect, and for that I am very grateful. Hang on to this young man! Long live the unicorn band-aid!
