When I was 5, she removed nine tiny stitches from my chin. They had been left in a day too long and the skin had started to grow around them. Being so young, I was scared to get them out, but I remember her calm determination and soothing presence. Since that day, I’ve had a tremendous amount of respect for all nurses. During the donation process, Brea’s talent, compassion and overall demeanor reminded me exactly why I’ve always valued nurses.
