We had a very sick cancer patient who had just been placed in hospice the day prior. Breanna was in charge of the department that night and did a phenomenal job not only caring for this patient but also the patient's parents and brother. She took the time to thoroughly explain everything that was going on to the patient's family and did whatever it took to meet the family's needs. She coordinated with our case manager and Columbus Hospice to ensure the patient had a smooth transition to the hospice facility. She was not only there for this patient and family but also for the staff that was present that night. I was the patient's primary nurse and Breanna was constantly checking on me to make sure I was okay. Seeing a child in that condition is not easy, and it helps so much to have staff who truly support you and care the way Breanna does. She is a phenomenal leader, and it is a privilege to work beside her.
