My baby girl was on her way! I was greeted with a smile from Breanna. Breanna knew how much pain I was in and she called for a doctor to come and check me, I was 7cm. I had Group B strep. She started my IV for fluids before I could get started on antibiotics. Then I was transported to my L&D room. The next day, that sweet smile that I had in triage was the same sweet smile that I had for the first full day in postpartum. I was having an issue with breastfeeding and getting very down and crying. I don't know how long she stayed in my room but somehow she made me feel like I was the only mom who needed her attention. Breanna helped me get into a position I found comfortable and talked me through latching.
Breanna, thank you for your encouragement and suggestions for positions. When you introduced yourself, I didn't realize how lucky I was to get a great nurse. You do so much more than take care of people, you are part teacher and part therapist.
