I have been quite ill for the past 3 1/2 months and in and out of the hospital and LTAC facilities. Brecken's compassionate and optimistic outlook made a difficult time much more bearable. She was so helpful, encouraging and knowledgeable, but she always treated me with respect and kindness. One example was when she washed my hair with regular shampoo. This may seem insignificant, however, after weeks of using no-rinse shampoo, this small gesture allowed me to feel "normal" again. After I moved away from this unit to another, Brecken took the time to visit me and that really lifted my spirits. Brecken truly is a credit to the nursing profession and a great role model. She is an asset to Mercy's staff and I am fortunate to have had her as my nurse.
