Brenda's enthusiasm, positive outlook, and unwavering dedication to the patients in our clinic are only some of the qualities she possesses.
In hiring Brenda Clawson, a former NWH Emergency Room nurse of five years, it was likely that we were gaining a top-notch nurse who was unflappable under the pressures of high volume and high acuity patients. Brenda, however, has demonstrated that her contributions to our clinic expand much further than just those valuable attributes. Brenda's enthusiasm, positive outlook, and unwavering dedication to the patients in our clinic are only some of the qualities she possesses. It is not uncommon for Brenda to take time to draft a personal thank you to other healthcare individuals (both in the UW System and outside), who have assisted in coordinating care for patients who often have a multitude of health issues, many times accompanied by devastating personal and economic circumstances. She goes above and beyond in obtaining insurance authorizations, working tirelessly to obtain necessary referrals, and arranging for transportation to and from medical offices.

She is a wonderful ambassador for NWH & UW Medicine, demonstrating a true "patients are first" work ethic. For fun, she decorates the clinic for such events as upcoming Seahawk or Mariner games. There is no possibility that a staff birthday will pass without Brenda making sure that a special day for that individual has been planned. She is a wonderful nurse, mentor, and employee.

She is truly a gem. Our patients love Brenda! She puts the most anxious patients at ease with her clinical confidence and warm personality. She has personally cured a few children of vaccine anxiety with her quick but gentle injection skills. Many of our patients have significant mobility impairments, and they appreciate how she is able to provide assistance without making them feel helpless. The patients trust her judgment and appreciate her communication style which is professional and friendly. She is also a fierce advocate for our patients and often spends hours each day following up on lab results from SNFs, coordinating care with our specialty pharmacies, and helping with insurance authorizations.
