Brenda floated to the Newborn Nursery. While a baby was being prepared to undergo a circumcision, Brenda quickly noted that something very wrong was happening. She alerted the NICU that a baby needed to be evaluated and it was determined that this baby was exhibiting very concerning signs of respiratory distress.

Upon admission to the NICU, this baby decompensated rapidly and was confirmed to be in septic shock. Had Brenda not recognized the concerning symptoms of this baby, it is likely that the baby would have passed away. She and then subsequently the NICU team saved this child's life. Thankfully, we can end this story happily as the baby is recovering well and thriving. Brenda is as humble as they come and blushes whenever she has been given accolades regarding this circumstance. "It's what we do", she says...But we know it was extraordinary and we think she is too!
