On Sunday evening I started to have some pain on my left side. I knew it had to be the start of passing a kidney stone. About 9 p.m. I called the nurse advice line; they had Green Bay VA call me at 7:30 a.m. Monday, I got hooked up with Brenda Melnarik. Told her I was going on the Honor Flight in 4 days. Brenda talked to KS and a VA doctor. She told me that they said I may not be able to go on the flight. I could have severe problems in flight. I told her I waited fifty years for that flight. She said, "Let me see what I can do."
Well, that girl went into action. I don't know who she talked to or what she did. Brenda called me at home two or three times. She said, "Be in Milwaukee ASAP."
On Tuesday I went to the ER; they were waiting for me. They made temporary repairs so I could make my flight. The following Friday I had surgery in Milwaukee to get the stone out. I am on the mend. I want to thank all who became involved so I could make the Honor Flight. Well done. Special thanks to Brenda to get things going. No words can express how I felt that special day.
