I can think of many times that Brenda Moody has gone above and beyond the calling. She is a leader for her unit and is always willing to lend a helping hand to her co-workers. The event that I am nominating her for has more meaning than she will ever understand. She will say she was just doing her job, but she did so much more.
Brenda caught a med error before it reached a pediatric patient. She was able to advocate for her patient and ensure that no harm reached the patient. While the patient has no idea what his nurse did for him, I do. I know that things could have gone so differently in this situation. I am so thankful to work alongside a nurse that takes the time to make sure her patients are getting just what they need and not more or less! Her attention to detail and a thorough review of patient orders could have potentially prevented a tragic event. Thankfully, this little boy is back home doing just what little boys are supposed to do.
